Contactless Debit Cards Rollout Info

What to Expect

QNB Bank introduced dual interface contactless chip cards in the summer of 2024. Contactless debit cards are automatically issued to you approximately 30 days before your current QNB Debit Card's expiration.

QNB contactless debit cards will be rolled out based on expiration date and be completed July of 2027. Instant-issue contactless debit cards are available at QNB branches. If you wish to receive a contactless debit card prior to your current debit card's expiration, stop by any QNB branch.

About Contactless Cards

A contactless chip card allows you to tap your debit card against a reader, in addition to inserting or swiping your card. Just tap your card where you see the Contactless Symbol to help speed up your checkout at fast food restaurants, pharmacies, grocery stores, and more. If a contactless terminal isn’t available, just insert or swipe your card.

How it works

FAQ's

What if a merchant's terminal does not accept contactless payments? Will my card still work?
Yes. Insert the EMV card, or swipe the magnetic stripe like you would have done with your previous card. Online purchases work the same as with your previous card.
How can I tell if a card or payment terminal accepts contactless payments?
Both the card and the terminal will have the Contactless Symbol noted.
Can I use the contactless functionality for all of my purchases?
Contactless payment availability may vary depending on terminal enablement, merchant preferences, transaction location or purchase amount. You may also be asked for your signature or PIN in some cases.
Does my chip card work at the ATM?
Yes. You can still use your card to get cash, check your balance and more.
Where can I use my dual interface card?
Use your dual interface EMV chip card at the same places you do now. Tap or insert your card at EMV enabled terminals, or swipe your card at terminals that have not yet switched. You can use your card as you did before for online payments, telephone payments and at ATMs.
